The aR1p is an awesome device. I took it home and tried it on a few different devices and found the best use for it on a daily basis is on my stereo amplifier. I often check mixes on my home stereo B&W speakers and have found by running my amp through the conditioner it makes a noticeable difference on the high end of the speakers. I have always loved the sound of the Nautilus tweeter and the aR1p seems to clean the amp so that any high frequency jitter is removed and the sound is very smooth and clear. When I have the opportunity to record at my home studio I will often plug my mic preamp into the aR1p there is always a clarity difference when I use it. I have noticed a huge difference when recording vocals using the aR1p. The human voice is one of the most difficult instruments to record and with the aR1p I get an extra 10-20% gain in sound quality. Thanks again for the use. Hope to see you soon.

Hello John, Last night for the first time I tried out your digital interconnect in my high end system, with quite remarkable results. The transformation in 'reality' was so astonishing that I felt the need to write you briefly to express my pleasure at this discovery and to offer all due fully deserved praise to you and your team for producing such a fine component. Maybe this is a one-off success, who knows but I am mighty tempted to try some more of your cables in the hope that they also have been devised by Merlin himself. The downside is that your brand is little known over this side of the Pond and cables not easy to come by to try. I am grateful to Joshua of Ears Nova of NYC for setting me on this path... Kind regards,
John Luke

A few comments about the new "E" version of the Au24 interconnect after an initial listen. The basic character of the cable is retained. Tonally very neutral. Timbrally accurate. Just gets out of the way. Where I hear the big difference is in what I'll refer to as speed or timing. To me the cable sounds very fast-perhaps warp speed. By this I mean leading edge transients on instruments like cymbals, acoustic guitar and piano are portrayed with speed and clarity adding a sense of realism. On acoustic bass the leading edge of notes seem crisper and tightly controlled. The initial slap heard before the thud of a kick drum is more apparent.
Sibilants are not exaggerated but seem clearer and more natural.
Sounds seem to emanate with clarity from a more focused space within the soundstage. Harmonics are portrayed without excessive bloom which will probably make for a good match with tube based systems such as mine.
I suppose this all hinges on getting leading edge transient information timed properly so that the ear/brain mechanism can interpret it as more lifelike. Overall, very impressive.

Dear John,
I made a plunge of getting the Au24 interconnect (XLR) a couple of weeks ago and guess what? The sound was amazing. The bass was cleaner, deeper and more accurate. The treble was sweet, natural and neutral. The background noise was lowered tremendously. The music was more involving and intimate. I can hear more detail that was not heard before. My system has improved greatly with the purchased of the Maestro loudspeaker cables 3 months ago and with the Au24 IC in place, it has transformed my system into a winning formula! It have to be heard to believe. Exceptional.
Cheers,
Richard -- Dec 07 |
Dear Mr. McDonald,
I have just received my new Adept Response aR6 yesterday and I can tell you that, though I understand the unit needs at least 100 hours of brake-in in order for the listener to experience the full potential of the conditioner, I can already hear a distinct difference in my music system. In one word, the overall sound of my system is more engaging and there is a glow around the performance that I did not experience before. I congratulate you on a superb piece of equipment, which is going to enhance dramatically my entire music system and increase my listening enjoyment. I am simply excited about the whole experience!
Cheers,
John Gerdes -- Dec 07 |
Dan, The aR6 continues to flabbergast me everyday. I had no idea a power conditioner could elevate my entire system by this order of magnitude. It is special for sure.

I am so happy I waited to purchase your recommended power conditioner. Going on 2 years, I have remarked how strongly I feel about my systems merit. That is, until I started up the aR6. It is remarkable how much deeper into the music my system takes me now! A veil has been lifted from even deeper space. Let me use my college education to elaborate…..WOW! Your recommended Adept Response power conditioner has raised the bar! Thank you, John.

I have purchased the Maestro loudspeaker cables and noticed a dramatic change to the sound. The detail was good. The bass is firmer without boom and the midrange is much sweeter. The cable is neutral and natural. It does not emphasize on any frequency range. I am able to sit back and enjoy the music. I am able to listen to all the tracks in the CD and play those CDs which I did not listen to for years! This cable gave a right dose of sound to the music, either bright or dull. It just sounds RIGHT! I have also brought 2 friends and they endorsed my findings. The Maestro loudspeaker cables matched my system very well and will consider changing my interconnect to Audience in the near future. Fabulous!

"I am
blown away by the little Audience power conditioner I bought
yesterday. For $500, it's the best bang for the buck I can imagine.
Not just a little better if you listen closely, more like a major
component upgrade. More detailed & delicate highs, deeper &
tighter bass, less background noise and overall a more relaxed flow of
music. I've bought a few things from you over the years, but this one
deserves a standing ovation. You will be selling a ton of these!"

"I
received the aR1p power conditioner on Friday and in a word...Wow!
I can't believe such a little device has such a huge effect
on the sound of the Outlaw 7500 power amp. It is simply amazing.
The cymbals and percussion instruments are so clear it's astounding!
It's almost like the amp has been modified. Thanks for putting
me onto this, Phil! You've earned a customer for life!"

"From
Magnum Dynalab to Cary Audio Design, from Acoustic Zen to
VAC, I have had the pleasure of dealing with some very
fine companies, some very fine individuals. None have provided
the service nor can compare to what I've just witnessed. My
cables which were just mailed to Audience last Friday, which
have crossed the continent twice, are today back in my system.
I don't know that I deserved new cables, but these seem to
be, and I thank you. In any event, for two-three years I
have used AZ Silver Reference between my Cary Preamp and VAC
amps, wish I would have changed them out for yours long ago.
A very nice sound indeed. Thanks for being so kind, so quick
and thanks for a very fine cable."

"I
added a 1/2 meter Au 24 IC between my preamp and cd player....MY
GOD, JOHN! IT'S LIKE THE CABLE ISN'T EVEN THERE. Granted,
the Au24 is the most expensive cable I've had in my system,
but I've had pretty darn good cables in the past. The
difference with the Au24s is almost sublime. I've even
tried them on my daughter's system, as well as my neighbor's,
and the results are the same. They just remove layers
of grain and hash that you didn't even realize were there. I
don't think I've ever been so excited by an addition to my
system. John, you've made a believer out of me. When
I can afford it, my whole system will be hooked up with Au24."

"I
got the cables today. It's packed so well. Thanks a lot. I
guess you might be tired of reading all the feedback/comments.
But I have to tell you Audience cables are really nice. I
mixed and matched with other good cables I got, and I found
out the best result was to use all Audience together. Probably
that's so called synergy. I listen mainly to Fusion/Jazz and
Rock stuff. I particularly like the bass, and cymbals with
AU24/powerChord, not to mention all other good things many
people have said. Now I enjoy my system and music much
better than before."

"I
just wanted to let you know how great the AU24 is. I have
been a long time user of Illuminator, and it's a great product,
so I assumed the AU24 would be as well. I assumed wrong. It
is not a great product. It is a revolutionary product! I have
been through many, many cables over the years, and I have
even spent time with men who I respect in the cable industry,
and absorbed knowledge from them. But I have to say this is
something like I have never experienced. This AU24 does not
sound like a cable. In fact, it is the only cable I have ever
heard that doesn't sound like a cable at all. You can put
another cable in its place, and regardless of price, it sounds
like you just added a cable to your system. Replace cable
X with AU24, and voila! You just removed a cable from your
system. I find it hypnotic almost. AU24 has taken over my
system, and is throwing out subliminal messages to me instructing
me to buy more, and get my entire system up to AU24 wire.
It is almost like changing an amp. It makes that huge an impact
on a system."

"Many
thanks for the information you provided, and for the link
to that
bi-wiring article. It certainly validates what I’ve
been hearing when switching from bi-wired to single-wired
runs. I am excited to report that, even after only 8 hours
of playing, I can hear what Bob Neill, Brian Damkroger and
those Asylum inmates are talking about. Compared to the
respected cables I had on hand, the Au 24 lets through a new
dimension of "live-ness" which enabled me to “connect”
at a deeper level with the intention, effort and energy of
the musicians performing. On occasion, I felt myself
truly startled by a sense of the actual “presence”
of instruments, in particular the grand piano, especially
on good DSD recordings. I have not heard a piano reproduced
so realistically before, and nor felt jolted in this way by
new cables before. Compared to my burned-in cables, there
was a “cold flatness” about the Au 24s when I
first inserted them (they were fresh out of the box from the
courier) which faded the more I played music through them. I
think I heard what some listeners noted as a lack of “body”
and detail compared to my thick heavy cables. However,
what I hear is less of an undifferentiated mass of sound,
while instruments and voices are freshly presented in their
unique character and within their own space, stripped of sonic
“muck.” Less homogenous noise, more of the instruments
and voices. Less chaotic, isolated details and more coherent
realism. Who REALLY needs more body anyway? In an uncanny
way, the Au 24 entirely complements the way I’ve been
aspiring to develop a neutral and uncolored hi-fi system."

"I
bought AU24 at Korean dealer. Previously I use NBS moniter
4 and monirter 0 and Live cable and Monster M1, etc. I think
AU24 is number 1. Bass is so clear . Contrabass sound is real
and depth is nice. I am sorry my English writing ability is
not good. But your cable is number 1."

"Several
months ago, I took possession of a McCormack DNA-2 Revision.
As I've stated before, the Au24's showed me how much grain
and hash were in my older speaker cables. But the bass
is now absolutely phenomenal. I've never heard such a
dynamic, robust, full, tight, and simply viscerally impacting
bass before anywhere. And I have to say that some of
my 20 year old cd's now almost sound like reference levels
recordings. Richer, fuller, and more 3-dementional. I
think it's a synergy I'm getting between the Au24's, the DNA-2
Rev. A, and the Aerial 10t's. Nevertheless, a fabulous
cable. And I took your advise by purchasing the Conductor
ic's for my subwoofer. You are correct in that the lack
of time-smear with the Conductor ic's now brings back the
continuity of the lower region between my full range Aerial
Acoustic model 10T speakers and my subwoofer. To hear
a 22Hz to 25Hz tone without the time-smear factor is
an experience."

"I
received the speaker cables Monday afternoon. Installed
and started listening at 6pm. Thanks for taking the "HIFI"
out of my living room and putting me into the club. This
new cable is such an improvement! I can hear so much
more music that it seems that the beat has slowed down. Also,
I am now certain the anticipated subwoofer purchase will
not be necessary. Thanks again."

"Okay,
you win. After about 40 hours of playing the AU24 cables,
they blow away the “C” cables best model. I have
listened to Roger Waters Live and several dozen other CD’s
I am very familiar with. Yours have a definite edge in dynamics
in all frequency ranges."

"The
Audience cord on my transport has been doing some good things!
What I like about it is the way it enhances the bass! My system
already had the right amount of bass and tightness and rated
at 20hz to 20khz! What the Audience has done is to make it
more tuneful, articulate while giving it more punch but never
sounding bloated or muddy! In fact, the bass is fast and controlled!
I was even surprised with it's upper frequency performance!
Not bright, not too forward or too laid back, just nice and
smooth and sweet! I did compare the Audience to the PS Audio
Mini Lab! The Mini Lab has been said to enhance the bass and
mid-bass area which is true! Here the Audience equals or betters
the Mini Lab! It also does what the Mini Lab does but again,
tighter, controlled and tuneful! The Audience makes the Mini
Lab sound a bit slow, bloated, thick and muddy! Up till now,
I'm still hearing the Audience improve as it plays and wonder
whether the 100hrs is sufficient! From the looks of things,
I believe the Audience probably needs maybe something like
200hrs and that too, only maybe! I have already accumulated
more 100hrs and it is still improving!"
